Road
edge drainage
Enkadrain
Findrain®
Water
in road construction weakens the substructure and can have
disastrous effects on the structure as a whole. Dynamic loads from
road traffic generate a pumping effect, drawing water from the
subsoil up into the road structure. Varying water table levels
undermine the stability of the base course material and can cause
cracking right up to the road surface. This is a case for
geosynthetic drain screens which intercept water and drain it off
safely into collector pipes.
The ideal is a system that is
quick to install over both long and short distances. For this
purpose, Enkadrain Findrain was developed for the Enkadrain
product range. This drain screen can be used with a wide range of
different drainpipes, draining off water quickly to the main
collector, thereby securing the stability of the entire structure.
Enkadrain Findrain can be dug into the sub-soil or be laid in
narrow trenches.

Enkadrain
Findrain is designed on the same basic tested and proven
principles as other Enkadrain products, except that, with
Enkadrain Findrain, the flexible three-dimensional drainage core
is wholly enclosed in a heat bonded nonwoven filter. The edges are
thermally sealed to prevent the inflow of silt particles. The
filter is connected to the drainage core by means of thermal
bonding over the entire surface or by spot welding.
Enkadrain
Findrain is provided with a cord to simplify in-situ insertion of
the pipe (not included) into the Findrain; product types are
available to suit a range of drainpipe sizes. Enkadrain Findrain
is an accepted alternative to expensive and time-consuming
capillary layers (graded particle mineral or textile filters and
gravel fill) for the collection of water. The mats are installed
vertically into the soils to be drained. Once installed, Enkadrain
Findrain collects the seepage water and transports it
longitudinally to the transverse discharge pipes or outfalls.
Reducing pore water pressure and allowing excess water to flow off
into the drainpipe in a controlled manner will help to avoid slope
and hydraulic soil collapses.
Used in roadside verge
drainage, Enkadrain Findrain serves for safe water run off and
prevents the mineral road sub base being weakened by capillary
water buildup.
In agricultural water management, Enkadrain
Findrain can be used to drain surface water run-off without the
need for open ditches which would reduce the area available for
cultivation, and create the ideal water-air ratio in the porous
areas of the soil.
Enkadrain
Findrain can be installed in narrow open trenches that are then
refilled with the excavated material. A trenching machine is all
that is needed for installation in many cases. Enkadrain Findrain
reduces the trench width required to be excavated, and hence the
volume of soil considerably over conventional drain trenches
adding to the reasons justifying the use of Enkadrain Findrain.
